Drunk driving often leads to other crimes, some of which are serious. Drunk drivers often exercise poor judgment, and this can frequently result in more serious offenses. According to reports, a man from Palm Bay, Florida was recently charged with killing two pedestrians while he was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to Palm Bay police, the defendant was driving south on Palm Bay road when he allegedly struck and killed two pedestrians. Police responded to witness reports of a collision involving a pedestrian, and they found two victims in the median. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

A few moments later, police found an unoccupied white van about 500 feet down the road. It was resting in the wood line where it appeared to have crashed. A West Melbourne police officer saw the suspected driver walking through a parking lot at a nearby restaurant. Officers said the man appeared to be intoxicated. He told officers that he was on his way to buy a pizza and that he struck something in the road when he attempted to make a yellow light. He said he crashed into trees and then walked to a nearby gas station. Police gave the man a field sobriety test and drew blood for a blood alcohol test. The results of the tests were not immediately released.

The suspect was charged with one count of DWI, two counts of DWI manslaughter and leaving the scene of a crash that had caused a death. These charges are serious. Convictions could lead to a significant period of incarceration and a stiff fine.
